The General Directorate of Civil Protection issued a Green Alert for temporary rains and occasional storms, since last October 24.
This alert is based on Special Report No. 4, which refers to the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), which is approaching the Pacific coast of Central America due to the presence of potential Tropical Cyclone 9, located northeast of the coast of Honduras, and by Hurricane John, located south of the Mexican coast.
This report indicates that: “The influence of these systems will increase rains (temporary type) for this Tuesday and Wednesday, concentrated in the coastal sector and with emphasis on the east. According to the latest update from the National Hurricane Center (NHC), potential Tropical Cyclone 9 could increase to Tropical Depression 9 or Tropical Storm Helene during this day; while Hurricane John maintains its trajectory towards Tehuantepec (Mexico). This Threat Observatory will continue the monitoring and development of this system, and will report in a timely manner on any significant changes..”
The authorities call on the Commissions of the National Civil Protection System to remain vigilant during the period that this Green Alert lasts. Likewise, they must continue with cleaning actions in drainage systems, streams and mouths as a measure of preparation and risk reduction for the rest of the winter.
