Speaking on the occasion of the launch of the 6th edition of the Moroccan Competition for Local Products (March 4-06), the Minister underlined the role that the local products segment plays in socio-economic development through the creation of jobs and increased income for small agricultural producers.

The programs put in place to promote local products have had a very positive impact on the beneficiary cooperatives as well as on small farmers, and constitute a promising alternative and a lever to ensure agricultural development, particularly in areas characterized by a low agricultural and economic potential, adds Mr. Sadiki.

He also recalled the importance of trade fairs organized at local, national and international levels in the promotion and marketing of local products, the promotion of which will make it possible to support producers but also to ensure the preservation of culture. and local heritage.

The sector of local products, since the launch of the Green Morocco Plan, has been the subject of particular attention, in the sense that a Development Strategy for this segment has been put in place to develop this sector through protection, encouragement and development of national potential in terms of local products.

This strategy, he continued, is illustrated by regional plans and programs aimed at better organizing producers in general and cooperatives in particular, and providing high quality products capable of meeting health safety standards. and market requirements, noting that these programs also aim to improve the promotion of products at the national and international levels.

Organized by the Agency for Agricultural Development (ADA), the 6th edition of the Moroccan Local Products Competition, aiming to promote and highlight the efforts made by producers and agricultural cooperatives, puts more than 1,200 local products in competition from the 12 regions of the Kingdom.

A diverse range of products is put into competition during this Competition including Argan, Amlou, couscous, honey, olive oil, olives, jams, cheeses, dates, almonds, nuts , dried figs, chili peppers, juices and vinegars. Of all the products presented to the members of the jury, the best will be awarded medals (gold, silver or bronze) in addition to the awarding of prizes of excellence as recognition and encouragement for the benefit of the best committed producers.
