“The Supreme Court of Greenland today supports the decision of the Greenland Court to suspend the founder of the Captain Paul Watson Foundation, Paul Watson”The police announced it was released.
The Greenland court decided on August 15 to continue the detention until September 5 of the 73-year-old American-Canadian, who was arrested a month ago in Nuuk, the capital of the autonomous Danish region. The lawyer for the founder of “Sea Shepherd France” then appealed to the Supreme Court of Greenland, ruling that his detention continues to be unjust.

Japan requested the release of Paul Watson on July 31 from the Danish Ministry of Justice, in a case linked to his fight for the protection of whales. In an email sent to AFP on Wednesday August 15, Minister Peter Hummelgaard confirmed that “test” that is “in progress”.
The activist’s arrest is based on Interpol’s Redpol Notice issued in 2012, when Japan was accused of being responsible for damage and injuries to a Japanese whaling ship two years later as part of a campaign by Shepherd Cord.

Leaving the Nuuk court on Thursday, before getting into a police car, Paul Watson told AFP that his continued delay in entering Japan to end “illegal whaling activities”.
In a message sent to AFP this Tuesday, the group announced that Paul Watson’s lawyers will make a request to the Danish Appeals Commission, a necessary step to obtain permission to appeal the decision to the Supreme Court of Denmark. “Conditions of detention are inconsistent”assured the Sea Shepherd.
