“Sum 41 is going to be disbanded”. In a press release published on social networks, rock band from Canada Sum 41 have announced their separation after 27 years of career. “Being Sum 41 since 1996 has brought us some of the best times of our lives,” the band wrote on Twitter.

The band’s five members, Deryck Whibley, Jason McCaslin, Dave Baksh, Tom Thacker and Frank Zummo, had come together to form Sum 41 on July 31, 1996, the 41st day of summer, giving the band his stage name. “We will be forever grateful to our fans, old and new, who have supported us every step of the way,” writes Sum 41, which has nearly 9.2 million monthly listeners on Spotify.

This is the album All Killer, No Fillerreleased in 2001, which had made them famous, with in particular the title In Too Deep. Subsequently, Sum 41 had won numerous awards such as the Juno Award for best group of the year in 2003, or the Juno Award for rock album of the year for Chuck in 2005.

But the end of Sum 41 is not for now. The group assures all the same that it will “finish” its concert tour this year, before releasing, as promised, their last album “Heaven: x: Hell”, and leaving for a “ultimate international tour”.
