The Libyan government assigned by the House of Representatives, headed by Osama Hammad, declared today, Monday, “a state of ‘force majeure’ on all oil fields, ports, institutions and facilities, and the suspension of oil production and exports until further notice.”
In a statement, against the backdrop of repeated attacks on the Central Bank of Libya, the government called on “all relevant and affiliated bodies – each according to their position and responsibility – to implement this matter urgently.”
The government said, “It is following with great interest the repeated attacks on the leaders, employees and administrations of the Central Bank of Libya in Tripoli by outlaw groups, incited and assisted by the impersonating Presidential Council.”
She added, “These attacks and attempts to force entry into the bank’s headquarters resulted in the complete suspension and obstruction of the state’s financial transactions, and harmed citizens in general.”
The Libyan government confirmed that “these attacks are likely to expose the national economy to rapid collapse.”
