The head of Naftogaz warned of a “critically” small coal reserve in Ukraine – RBK

by time news

Ukraine’s coal reserves are critically small, said Yuriy Vitrenko, chairman of the board of the Ukrainian company Naftogaz, on the air of the 1 + 1 TV channel.

“Coal is critically small reserves, less than usual, but on the other side there is now a lot of coal,” he said.

On the other hand, Vitrenko noted, the country’s gas reserves exceed the usual level. According to Naftogaz’s calculations, by January 1, 2022, the storage facilities will have 3% more gas than the average in 2015 or 2019, he added.

The head of “Naftogaz” called a mockery of Berlin’s decision on Nord Stream 2

Vitrenko allowed problems to arise if the air temperature in Ukraine stays at 15 degrees below zero for two weeks. However, the problems will be the same as 3 years or ten years ago, he pointed out. “Because there are no such energy systems in the world that would be designed so that there would be no problems, despite the temperature. This requires unrealistic gas reserves, unrealistic storage facilities, and unlimited, “- explained the head of Naftogaz, adding that even the richest countries in the world are not able to afford such a luxury.
