A vigil was organized on this occasion at the Umuco stadium in Muyinga, accompanied by actors, singers, and the famous singer Sylvestre CIZA whose songs have become famous since 1983.
“The journey of the Torch of Peace, XVIIth Edition differs from the others because it will have to travel through all the communes of Burundi with a particular message of aiming for an Emerging Burundi in 2040,” said the President of the Republic.
“We are lighting the Torch to begin a long journey that will lead us to development,” said Number One, recalling that to go very far, we take care of our mount.
“I ask the population to listen to the Intwararumuri team and the leaders who have already understood their role in awakening the consciousness that is still dormant to move towards the Vision of an Emerging Burundi in 2040,” said the Number A Burundian and leader of the country’s development.
The Peace Torch was lit for the first time in Burundi in 2006 and promoted to national heritage in 2020.
Before concluding his speech, President Ndayishimiye blessed the team in the mighty name of God wishing them every success in this long journey.
