The President of the Republic, Head of State, Mr. Mohamed Bazoum received in audience, late yesterday afternoon, the Algerian Minister for Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Mr. Ahmed Attaf , in his capacity as special envoy of the President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
Mr. Ahmed Attaf carries a message from the Algerian President to his counterpart, President Mohamed Bazoum. Also, the discussions focused on bilateral cooperation and the security situation in the Sahel.
On leaving the hearing, Mr. Ahmed Attaf indicated that the meeting was an opportunity to proceed with the Head of State to an assessment of the state of play of Algerian-Nigerian cooperation. “We reviewed the many dimensions of cooperation. We also discussed political problems, concerns or interests for our two countries, including the security situation in the Sahel, which is a particularly degraded situation,” said the Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs. He also noted that the situation in Mali, the implementation of the Peace Agreement were also at the center of the exchanges he had with the Head of State. “It is a subject of interest shared by Niger and Algeria, because both are part of the international mediation”, said Mr. Ahmed Attaf. “I think I can say that a broad convergence of views has emerged between us on all the subjects,” he said.
Finally, Mr. Ahmed Attaf affirmed: “I do not believe that this surprises anyone, so much the relations of consultation, of dialogue between Niger and Algeria are always carried out in serenity, understanding and agreement”.
