Libreville, April 12 (AGP) – The President of the Transition, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, who is making a working and friendship visit to Ivory Coast, carried out this Friday, April 12, in the company of the Gabonese and Ivorian authorities , visited the National Agricultural Research Center (CNRA), located in the commune of Yopougon, and the Azito electricity production plant, reports a press release from the Presidency of the Republic received by the AGP.

The National Agricultural Research Center visited by the Head of State was created in 1998, following the merger of several specialized agricultural research institutes.

Present throughout the Ivorian territory, this structure serves as advice to the Ivorian State in matters of agricultural development on the one hand, and implements technologies for the benefit of producers, on the other hand.

The CNRA thus aims to increase and adapt technological innovations in rural areas in a sustainable manner, production and productivity in the agricultural and agro-industrial fields through research on plant, animal and forestry production, as well as conservation and processing systems among other objectives.

As for the Azito Power Plant, which the Head of State subsequently visited, it is one of the most important in terms of electricity production in Côte d’Ivoire. Entered into service in 1999, the Ivorian thermal power plant produces electricity using gas and thus increases the nominal electricity production capacity of the Ivory Coast.

« It is therefore within the framework of strengthening south-south cooperation that the Head of State came to draw inspiration from the Ivorian experience both in terms of energy and agriculture in order to fill the deficit in these areas in Gabon. “, concluded the press release from the Presidency of the Republic.
