In his speech at the UN General Assembly, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Siarhei Aleynik, spoke about the need to stop the “policy of ostracism in the UN”, reports the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, publishing the minister’s speech.

Analysis of the speech later on our website.

Here are some abstracts of Oleynik’s speech:

Ukraine and its people have become a bargaining chip in the “great game” of the West for the preservation of its global hegemony. It is obvious that, increasing the supply of weapons to this country, the West is determined to “continue the war until the last Ukrainian”. But does Ukraine want this? Do Ukrainians need a war of attrition? Convinced that – no! Belarus, for its part, has always advocated for peace in its neighboring country and has taken all possible measures for this. As the President of Belarus notes, we are ready to do everything that depends on us. (ZOn the first day of the full-scale war, the Russian troops invaded the Ukrainian territory and launched the missiles deployed in Belarus – with the consent of the country’s leadership. Minsk provided the Russian Federation with all the transport and military infrastructure necessary for carrying out aggression, and Russian soldiers were treated and trained in Belarus. — RS) The situation in global politics is only getting worse. This trend has a negative impact on all other spheres of international relations. And what is the role of the United Nations in these processes? To be only a platform for discussion? Many see her role in this. Therefore, it is not surprising that the Organization is often accused of inaction and inability to stop the growing global chaos, to stop the three-dimensional crisis in the field of security, food, energy, which has already covered the whole world! It is necessary to stop the policy of ostracism in the UN. This practice contradicts the very essence of the Organization! Because according to the Charter of the United Nations, all its members are equal! Let’s treat each other with respect and equality! No one should stoop to insults and disrespectful language, such as the use of the word “regime” in relation to the legitimate authorities of member states. Let’s assume that there is enough food for everyone in the world. At the same time, millions of people on the planet are starving. This “contradiction” is the result of unilateral illegal sanctions, which Western states impose in violation of the UN Charter against countries they do not want or in order to gain advantages in competitive economic struggle. Sanctions, in turn, limit opportunities to export fertilizers and food products to developing countries that need them the most. In 2021, the European Union, the United States, Great Britain and Canada imposed sanctions against Belaruskali. In January 2022, the Norwegian potash supplier Yara — one of the largest buyers of Belarusian fertilizers in Europe — announced the termination of cooperation with “Belaruskalium” due to the influence of Western sanctions. On February 1 of the same year, the export of potash fertilizers through the Lithuanian port in Klaipėda stopped —RS). The UN Security Council does not reflect today’s geopolitical realities. Three of its five permanent members are representatives of the West. They are not interested in changing the status quo in the world. As an investigation, the Council does not fulfill its functions to maintain international peace and security. Only a more representative and democratic body can cope with this task. (The UN Security Council is a permanent body of the UN, which is entrusted with the main responsibility for maintaining international peace and security. The Council consists of 15 member states — 5 permanent and 10 non-permanent, which are elected for a two-year term, 5 every year. Permanent members of the UN Security Council with veto power are China, Russia, Great Britain, USA and France — RS). Expanding the category of permanent membership at the expense of the large developing states of Asia, Africa and Latin America is an imperative of the times. It is good that China and Russia support such a reform of the Council, as they have repeatedly stated. Back in 2017, the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko took the initiative to “launch” a global dialogue on security… Unfortunately, some key “players” did not want to hear this reasonable call. As an investigation, the security architecture in Europe has seriously failed.
