The head of the Football Sub-Federation in Saladin Governorate, Jawad Najm Abdullah, placed responsibility on several parties for the decline in the level of sports in the governorate.

Abdullah told the (INA), today, Sunday: “One of the main reasons is the exploitation of the youth and sports sector for electoral purposes without any strategic planning,” explaining that “this style of management has continued since 2005 until now, with the exception of a short period.” “I witnessed an improvement in support for sports during the era of the late Abdullah Jabbara, and with the arrival of subsequent governments, the youth and sports sector witnessed a significant decline.”

Abdullah added, “The adoption of the transfer of powers law, which negatively affected most sectors in the country, including sports, and the situation worsened after the entry of terrorist gangs, which completely stopped the sports development process.”

Abdullah stressed that “the absence of infrastructure and the lack of funding necessary to develop sports talent were among the main reasons for the deterioration of sports,” noting that “school sports are no longer taught as before, which led to a decline in talent, in addition to the severe shortage of stadiums and sports facilities, which made It is difficult to develop academies or support local teams properly. All of these reasons have led to the death of sports in the governorate, and there is no future plan to revive it again during the coming period.”
