Tanz Boaz Balt, commander of the center for the missing families of the police, the Home Front Command and the Ministry of Welfare, tells ‘Davar’ that until this evening (Monday) about 750 cases of missing persons have been opened, he says that more may change in the future.

“We set up the call center on Saturday night at 9:00 p.m.,” says Tanz Balt, whose routine role in the police is as the commander of the national unit to combat economic crime. Bag.

“So far, about 750 missing persons cases have been opened. This number is obviously dynamic, some missing persons are found and then they are removed from the list, and unfortunately there are new missing persons that we will discover as a result of inquiries from the public.”

The center at Kiryat Airport works 24 hours a day, and is staffed by dozens of staff members. It also includes social workers from the Ministry of Welfare who accompany the families mentally and emotionally. Some of the researchers who are included in it are from the 105 center for the protection of children online, thinking that these are researchers who are experienced in dealing with relatively difficult cases, even though the stories of the missing are much more difficult. It works in cooperation with the cyber systems of various government bodies and private companies that volunteer to help.

In relation to the families’ outcry that the authorities were not in contact with them, Tanz Balt says that soon every family of a missing person will have a permanent contact person who will inform them of what is happening.

Tanz Balt explains that the center operates at the interface with the identification of the spaces that are in the territory of Israel. At the same time, there is a unit here that deals with the issue of body identification, and works with the bodies for the concentration of bodies (Trachim). As soon as the bodies arrive at the Trachim, they go through an identification procedure, with a variety of identification personnel and medical personnel.

“They try to come and verify who that space is by means of all kinds of identifying marks, it could be tattoos on the body, or forensic findings such as DNA samples, bone structure or tooth structure. They examine all the materials that are put before those doctors and identifiers, and try to reach matches with victims or In front of people we know are missing.”

Therefore, according to Tanz Balt, the process to identify a space can take a long time. “Only when we know for sure who the spaces are in our hands and verify their identity, we will know how to come and associate them with the space, absent alive, absent not alive, and we can make these adjustments. It’s a complex job that probably takes a lot of time. I assume that as the days pass the picture will become clearer, the mechanism will be more efficient and effective, and we will be able to come and bring the most information as quickly as possible in an orderly manner to all citizens of Israel.”
