The Plan advances and with it go our expectations, attentive to how many steps are taken to make this new opportunity the best ally to solve the inefficiencies that had been detected for years in the health ecosystem.

Greater public investment in healthin relation to our GDP, of course, but first it is necessary to establish its need, destination, evaluation and impact, as well as the mandatory ethical, legal and cybersecurity conditions. In the data economy in which we are immersed, we cannot be oblivious to the interest aroused by the health sector and new non-traditional agents; and ensure the protection of patient data.

Las new technologies They are our allies, they do not come to replace anyone, but they do force us to optimize our limited resources, and by acquiring digital skills as we move forward, incorporate new processes and solutions to provide the best possible health care at all times.

The Council of Ministers on June 6, 2023 has approved the addendum to the Spanish Recovery Plan. We miss a more determined commitment in the health sector, taking into account where we come from (pandemic crisis), and where we are going (coverage of an increasingly aging population).

Public-private collaboration

In it Vanguard Health Part focus must be placed on the R+D+i component; in the capacity to involve the pharmaceutical, health technology and biotechnological industry and in the development of collaboration schemes between agents; looking for public-private collaboration, which has to combine knowledge, experience and innovation, between health providers and providers.

The Pertes are expected to be initiatives of great quantitative and qualitative scope. For example, to deal with the arrival of new technologies, with its greatest exponent in the artificial intelligencelooking for the best ally to make health care sustainable.

The Health Part includes an area with high economic and social potential, and results in individual and collective health, which will allow us to face the challenges of the future. This Part has had an initial Plan transfer of 810 million euros and, in the addendum, an additional transfer of 500 million euros, and 330 million euros through loans; a total of €1.640 million.

Although it is a significant amount, it is insufficient, but at the moment it is impossible to establish an objective assessment, since Just as important, or more, if we may, is to know what these funds are used for.

We come from a health system in which the percentage of inefficiency ranges between 20 and 40 when we refer to processes, technology and resources. If we position the funds in the system without be more demanding in terms of their destination and greater transparency and evaluation of the publicwe will be far from the adequate objectives to produce the necessary changes.

Among all of us, but especially the Government of Spain, we must ensure the efficiency in the use of these funds. We need to promote mechanisms that allow all parties to prepare to actively participate in current and future calls. Actions to disseminate information about the funds, success stories and other practical information, involving different socioeconomic agents in the ecosystem are essential.

We must continually ask ourselves the question: are we taking advantage of this unique and unrepeatable opportunity? In the honest answer we will find what we are looking for.
