“The height of the heights is to change a sanction to two days”

The second date of the season is already here and it will be at the Autódromo de Temas in Río Hondo. Alex Márquez remains optimistic and assures that he is adapting better than expected to his Ducati, although he still has to polish some details of his riding style to be able to ride in more competitive records.

In some statements made to the press in the same Termas paddock, the Catalan rider has acknowledged that he is happy with the performance, having fun on the bike. Of course, he recalled that he still has to polish some details, especially with a view to the race: “We made some mistakes, we couldn’t get into Q2 and we were missing something in Q1 as well.. There are several things that we can still improve. It was also important to think on Sunday about how to manage the pace of the race, but overall I think I managed to defend a good position and set good times.

The Gresini Racing rider has stated that he knows in which areas he is going to work, although it will be important to really know his performance in the first rounds of the season to continue developing the bike: “Clearly the track here is very different and the grip level is very low. Many things are different, that’s why I think lhe first four races will be important to understand how we can go and then try to be competitive on all tracks and in different conditions. We will try to do our best and have fun.”

“I’m still riding too much like I used to on the Honda”has recognized the youngest of the Márquez brothers, who has pointed out that he is adapting to his new motorcycle, for which he hopes to take the definitive step in the next appointments: “I lean too much at certain times and there are different aspects of the riding style that I need to improve, but we have identified them. I think this will lead us to an improvement in the next rounds, and will help us to be more competitive in the European part of the season”.

With the shadow over the possible return to competition of Marc Márquez, the man from Cervera has stated that he is not the right person to give information about it, but he hopes to see him soon on the Honda: “Of course, I can’t be the one to say if he will be able to race in Austin. He will see it every day and he has a team leader who also takes care of that. For now we can say it’s ok. We will have many opportunities to see him on the bike this season.”

Fabio di Giannantonio’s teammate has requested that the stewards have a single criteria and that all the drivers can compete on equal terms, something that is not possible at the moment: “All drivers have to serve the penalty equally. If it says that it is the next GP, it will be that one, if it says that it is the next one in which you compete, then in that one. As always, until it happens you don’t know. They have to be clear.”

Finally, continuing with this issue, #73 has ensured that the pilots are facing a moment of defenselessness with sanctions that change from one moment to the next without following a fixed criteria: “It can be greatly improved, we continue the same as last year. There are penalties with different criteria, penalties that give you one or two long laps for the same action. We ask that they be clearer. The last straw is to change a penalty after two days. We have a regulation that if you read it, in the last point it says that depending on the situation they have the last word. Then everything falls apart for you. You say ‘why have I read this if in the end they are going to do what they want’”, concluded Alex Márquez.
