The heir to the Netherlands: Haller signed for Dortmund

by time news

Arling Holland’s successor has arrived. Borussia Dortmund announced today (Wednesday) the addition of striker Sebastian Haller to its ranks for 35 million euros. The Ivory Coast player closed out a formidable year and a half at Ajax, in what earned him a move to the German giant.

The 28-year-old Haller can be said to have reached his peak at a relatively late stage in his career. After a well-publicized move to West Ham in July 2019 in which the London club bought him from Frankfurt for € 50 million, the striker’s career seemed to be on the rise. But that was not the case.

Haller did not find himself in the English league, and in 54 appearances in the hammer uniform he found the net 14 times in total, to which he added three cooks. As a result, he lost his place at West Ham and was sold to Ajax – where everything changed.

The Dutch champions bought him for 22 million euros, less than half the amount West Ham paid for him, and there the striker found himself on the floor (1.90), including a permanent place in the Ivory Coast team in the media, scoring four goals in 12 appearances.

Now, Haller is coming to Dortmund to take the place of one of the dominant strikers in the club’s history – Arling Holland. After pocketing 75 million euros from the Norwegian sale to Manchester City, she paid less than half of the amount to land Haller, who is at his peak of fitness.
