Richard Plugge, manager of Jumbo-Visma, one of the teams that participated in the recently aired Netflix documentary about the Tour de France, asserted that the series did not show something “historical” like Jonas Vingegaard’s decision to wait for Tadej Pogacar, when he fell in the last mountain stage.

“Big mistake indeed, the sportsmanship that Jonas displayed that day is a historic moment. You don’t want your opponent to fall into a dangerous descent, better fight for victory on the bike, ”Plugge pointed out on his Twitter account, citing an opinion from another user about the audiovisual product.

He is partly right, because the fans are always moved by this type of gesture, beyond the eternal debate that exists in cycling about whether or not to wait for the opponent when he goes to the ground or punctures. Perhaps an aspect that could have been explored.

There is talk that there will be a second season, although for now, the series has already received criticism from its protagonists such as Wout van Aert, who did not like the narrative construction of a conflict against Vingegaard himself.
