The immature actor from the quagmire of cases claimed that the diplomatic numbers were legally issued to him by the Order of Malta, but the officials were not convinced by these explanations.
A. Kandrot’s complaint was supposed to be heard in the Kaunas district court on Friday, but the hearing was postponed because one of the witnesses could not participate in it.
Cellophane will likely participate in the process remotely from the prison where he is currently serving time for large-scale fraud and other crimes.
According to the portal lrytas.lt, the Jaguar, at the wheel of which A. Kandrotas was stopped, does not officially belong to him.
The court carousel turned
The mysterious story began on August 19, 2021, when the police stopped A. Kandrotas driving a Jaguar on the Raudondvaris road in Kaunas with license plates that, according to the officials, were assigned to the wrong vehicle.
On March 24, 2022, the representatives of the Department of Administrative Offenses of the Kaunas County Chief Police Commissariat fined Celofan 290 euros, and he was also banned from driving vehicles for six months.
When A. Kandrots appealed this ruling, the court carousel started spinning: on February 22, 2024, the Kaunas District Court rejected his appeal, but the unfavorable decision was appealed to the Kaunas District Court, which in April satisfied Cellophane’s appeal, returning the case to the Kaunas District Court for reconsideration.
It seems that the case was brought back for formal reasons – it was noted that the lower court did not delve into it enough, speaking only about whether A. Kandrot’s rights were violated, but not examining the validity of the penalty itself.
The next hearing at the Kaunas District Court will take place next week.
Regarding the numbers, there is already more than one case
Because of the mentioned car numbers, Celofanas has come into the attention of the institutions before – for example, a similar administrative case was examined by the Trakai Chamber of the District Court of the Vlnius region in early 2022.
Cellophane taught at the same time that the car numbers that give him diplomatic status were issued to him by an international organization – the Order of the Orthodox Knights of Malta.
However, Trakai judge Ramunė Valiulytė was not convinced by these explanations – it was stated that diplomatic numbers can only be legally obtained in cases where international agreements have been signed, while Latvia has signed an agreement with the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of St. John of Jerusalem, Rhodes and Malta, which is not the same Cellophane to the specified organization. A. Kandrots’ fine of 240 euros, which was imposed on him by the Elektrėnai police, remained valid.
Cellophane was repeatedly convicted of financial scams. He is currently on trial in the case of the riots near the Seimas. This actor also became famous for his actions against the raising of Ukrainian flags.
