Katja Hoyer’s new book is already a bestseller in Great Britain. It was first published there. The historian has lived in London for almost twelve years and writes in English. Her book is about the country in which she was born in 1985 and which she never really got to know herself: the GDR. For the British, for the sake of simplicity, the title of the book reads East Germany, Ostdeutschland.
