On March 20, in connection with Novruz Bayram, a holiday week begins in Azerbaijan.
As Day.Az reports, based on the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers “On determining the days of the holidays Novruz, Ramadan and Gurban for 2024”, March 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24, 2024 were established as Novruz Bayram days.
Due to the fact that March 23 and 24 fell on Saturday and Sunday, on the basis of the Labor Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, March 25 and 26 were declared non-working days.
Thus, in connection with Novruz Bayram, 7 days (20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25 and 26 March) will be non-working days.
The next working day in Azerbaijan after the holiday is March 27.
Novruz, which is one of the traditions of the Turkic peoples, marks the onset of spring.
This holiday, called Novruz by the Azerbaijanis, Nooruz by the Kyrgyz, Novroz by the Uzbeks, Neuruz by the Bashkir Turks, Navruz by the Tatars, Naurus by the Chuvash, Nevrez by the Crimean Turks, and Mevris by the Western Thracians, is widely celebrated annually in March in many countries of the northern hemisphere.
The Nowruz holiday is recognized as the beginning of the new year by more than 300 million people around the world.
Novruz has been celebrated for more than three thousand years in the Balkans, the Black Sea region, the Caucasus, Central Asia, the Middle East and other regions.
