The Honor 80 series devices come with a 160-megapixel camera

Yesterday, the Honor company introduced the Magic Vs foldable device and also unveiled another pair of devices that offer a photography setup that includes a 160 megapixel main camera, alongside OLED screens, support for fast charging and Qualcomm’s chip systems.

Both models in the new series offer curved OLED screens on both sides, with a small hole at the top used for the selfie camera, while in the case of the pro model you will also find a depth sensor in addition to the front camera. The company offers the models in a variety of colors, including black, sea blue, green and peach-pink.

Technical specifications: Honor 80 Pro

On the front of the Honor 80 Pro, you can find a 6.78-inch OLED screen with a resolution ranging between FHD and QHD in a layout of 1224×2700 pixels, with support for a high refresh rate of 120 Hz, a maximum brightness of 1000 nits and a fingerprint scanner activated by touching the display.

Under the hood you can find the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, although the technical data presented by the company for the processor are more reminiscent of those that came with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 model, with a main Cortex-X2 core operating at a frequency of 3 GHz (instead of 3.2 ), 3 Cortex-A710 cores operating at a frequency of 2.5 GHz (instead of 2.8) and 4 Cortex-A510 cores operating at a frequency of 1.8 GHz (instead of 2 GHz).

While each company is allowed to customize the tools offered in the chip system according to its needs, it is a little strange to us that Honor specifies the “plus” version, while according to the clock frequency settings in the processor cores it is the normal version.

Next to the processor you can find working memory (RAM) in the volume of 8 or 12 gigabytes next to a built-in storage component in the volume of 256 or 512 gigabytes and a battery with a capacity of 4800mAh, which supports fast charging with a power of 66 watts through a USB-C connection.

The device also supports Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, 5G networks and WiFi 6 and comes built-in with the Android 12 operating system and the company’s customized user interface, MagicOS 7.0.

The composition of the cameras:

  • Main camera: 160 megapixel sensor, f/1.8 aperture key, 4K video with electronic stabilization (EIS)
  • Secondary camera: 50-megapixel sensor, f/2 aperture key, 122-degree wide-angle photography, macro photography from a distance of 2.5 cm
  • Depth camera: 2 megapixel sensor, f/2.4 aperture key
  • Selfie camera: 50 megapixel sensor with f/2.4 aperture key and 100 degree wide angle and 4K recording + 2MP depth sensor

As in the pro model, here too you can find an OLED panel, but it is a slightly smaller panel that comes in size 6.67 inches, with FHD+ resolution and a layout of 1080×2400 pixels, with support for a high refresh rate of 120 Hz, a maximum brightness of 1000nits and a fingerprint scanner which is activated by touching the display.

Under the hood you can find the Snapdragon 782G chip system, along with 8 or 12 GB of RAM, along with a built-in storage component of 256 or 512 GB and a 4800mAh battery, which supports fast charging with a power of 66 watts through a connection USB-C.

The device also supports Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, 5G networks and WiFi 6 and comes built-in with the Android 12 operating system and the company’s customized user interface, MagicOS 7.0.
