In 2016, the Guitart Hotels chain ceased to be the owner of the Monterrey de Lloret de Mar, the only five-star establishment owned by this family group based in the Selvatán municipality, with 60 years of history and which also has establishments in Barcelona and Cerdanya. A foreign investment fund took over the hotel, after the Girona chain owned it for more than a decade.
