The Hubble Space Telescope Takes a Look at the Herbig-Harrow Space Objects (Full Story)

by time news

The Hubble Space Telescope has cast a peek at the Herbig-Harrow space objects in the constellation Orion.

This came about 1250 light-years away from Earth, to reveal unprecedented clarity about these objects, which are considered as star nurseries.

Herbig-Haro objects are glowing clumps found around some newborn stars, and are formed when jets of gas from these young stars collide with the surrounding gas and dust at incredibly high speeds.

In 2002, Hubble observations revealed that parts of an object, HH 1, were moving at more than 248 miles (400 kilometers) per second.

The Hubble camera captured this turbulent stellar nursery using 11 different filters at infrared, visible and ultraviolet wavelengths.
