The huge murals by Carlos Atoche alla Garbatella

by time news

Time.news – Every woman is a Venus, and must first of all love herself. The ecomurales of the well-known Peruvian street artist Carlos Atoche – his greatest work in the capital – was unveiled today in Largo delle Sette Chiese, in the heart of the Garbatella district, is dedicated to body awareness and self-care, and is above all an invitation to prevention for which Susan G. Komen Italia has been working tirelessly for over twenty years.

The project was conceived and entirely supported by McArthurGlen – Castel Romano Designer Outlet and curated by Yourban 2030 – a non-profit at the forefront of social and eco-sustainable street art – with the patronage of the Municipality of Rome VIII – Rome Capital.

The #AMORETCURA artwork is majestic and intimate at the same time. For millennia Aphrodite has been represented half covered by a cloak, with a solemn and sacred expression that enhances the strong sense of dignity of the goddess: here the drapery leaves the breast uncovered and is supported by the hand of Venus, in a gesture of protection and of self-care.

Atoche revisits and updates classical art by interpreting the figure of Venus in a visionary way, giving it a vitality typical of South American art. The figure is powerful, softened by the pictorial style, with predominant colors in the magenta range.

“With this image I tried to return, in a poetic way, the feminine power and the ability of the woman universe to face all difficulties, whether simple or complex” – says Carlos Atoche – “I wanted to represent self-care but also the energy of the woman who resists in a patriarchal and hostile world. So through the centuries, today as yesterday, every “Venus” has conquered denied rights and spaces, fighting not only to free itself from the sexist rules imposed by the system, but above all to find a balance within its own inner world “.

“We have chosen to give our city the work of a great street artist, who can remind all women every day of the importance of prevention and self-care. We are happy to dedicate it to Susan G. Komen Italia, who for years has been carrying out extraordinary work dedicated to the prevention and treatment of women “- declares Enrico Biancato, Center Manager of McArthurGlen – Castel Romano Designer Outlet -” The female universe has always been central in the vision of the McArturGlen group: we are pleased to mention, in this regard, that over 70% of the resources that with their work determine the success of McArthurGlen are women ”.

The ecological value of the mural should not be underestimated. As in all his artistic projects, Yourban 2030 has used exclusively Airlite paints, a technology that can be applied like a paint on any surface, transforming each wall into a natural purifier, reducing nitrogen oxides, the main cause of death deriving from pollution of the ‘air. A 100 m2 ecomurales, like the one created here in Largo delle Sette Chiese, eliminates the smog of about 21 “Euro 6” petrol cars per day. “For the first time in Italy, we can say that Art is Prevention” – declare Veronica De Angelis and Maura Crudeli, President and Vice President of Yourban 2030 – Rome, from today, has a new Venus, a work of art that not only has the mission of reminding all women that prevention is important, but also a work that actively purifies, at the same time, the air from those emissions which, as is amply demonstrated, strongly affect health, increasing possibility of serious illnesses “.
