As Hurricane Ian dumped heavy rains in the US state of Florida, efforts to rescue people stuck in floods have been accelerated.
Ian, considered one of the worst hurricanes in US history, has sustained winds of up to 150 kilometers per hour, and Florida has suffered severe damage.
Bay areas were flooded. Millions of people are without electricity.
Confirmed information on casualties is yet to be released. As Ian weakens to a tropical storm, tens of thousands of military personnel have been deployed in storm rescue operations.
A state of emergency has been declared in Lee County, Virginia, and Georgia.
Many airports have been closed and 4,000 flight services have been cancelled.
