The Ibex 35 has closed this week with a decrease of 0.9%, although on Friday, the index rose 0.59% to stand at 9,364.6 points The week has been marked by the entry of the Saudi company STC in Telefónica as the first shareholder and with the intention of acquiring 9.9%. Now, attention is focused on the meeting of the European Central Bank (ECB) next Thursday, without it being clear what decision it will make: whether to stop its rate hike path, after nine consecutive hikes, or continue with the strategy of monetary tightening. , which on this occasion could be around a quarter of a point. Last week, Eurostat preliminarily reported that eurozone inflation remained at 5.3%, unchanged from July.

On this Friday, only six stocks closed the session in ‘red’: Fluidra (-1.95%), Grifols (-0.90%), Cellnex (-0.55%), ArcelorMittal (-0 .10%), IAG (-0.06%) and Acerinox (-0.04%). The largest increases corresponded to Acciona Energías Renovables (+2.63%), Repsol (+1.88%), Banco Sabadell (+1.67%), Logista (+1.61%), Meliá (+1.52 %), Bankinter (+1.43%) and Unicaja Banco (+1.43%). Telefónica rose 0.18% at the close of the session and since the changes in its capital were announced it has appreciated 2.5%.

At the close of the European trading session, a barrel of Brent was trading at $90.74, up 0.91%, while the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) advanced 0.89%, up to $87.62. The price of crude oil has been influenced this week by the decision of Russia and Saudi Arabia to extend their voluntary cut in oil production and exports until the end of the year, beyond the pacts agreed within OPEC.

Next week there will be an informal meeting of the Ministers of Economy and Finance of the European Union (Ecofin) where they could discuss the future presidency of the European Investment Bank (EIB) to which Nadia Calviño aspires. Likewise, during the week it will also be known if Margarita Delgado is finally the candidate chosen by the ECB to replace Andrea Enria as head of the Supervisory Board of the monetary authority.
