Another courtyard renovated within the framework of the “Year of Solidarity for a Green World” in Azerbaijan and the “Our Courtyard” project, aimed at improving courtyards in need of repair and carried out on the initiative of the Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of the IDEA public association Leyla Aliyeva, was transferred on April 5 for the use of residents.
On the territory of the renovated courtyard there are multi-storey buildings No. 3, No. 1/1 and No. 27, which are located on Mira Street in the village of Bakikhanov in the Sabunchu district of the capital and in which 820 people live.
As Day.Az reports with reference to AZERTAC, the landscaped courtyard has created conditions for comfortable movement of disabled people, as well as for the development of children of all ages, effective leisure time and systematic sports activities. In the courtyard there is a mini-football stadium with artificial turf, a chess court, various sports facilities, and children’s playgrounds. In addition, three gazebos, benches, birdhouses, cat houses and trash bins are installed on the territory.
Taking into account the wishes and interests of the residents, new lamp posts and surveillance cameras were installed in the yard, the facades and blocks of buildings were completely repaired, the asphalt and roofing surfaces were updated, and the electrical system was restored.
In addition to the restoration of green spaces, 219 different types of trees, 5,500 shrubs and 2,000 seasonal flowers were planted in the yard, and a landscaping strip was laid out over an area of 2,050 square meters. In addition, planting 1,200 ivy bushes and other climbing plants around the yard, which grow thickly and can effectively reduce air pollution, created green barriers.
It should be recalled that the main goal of the “Our Yard” project is environmental cleanliness and improvement of courtyards, restoration of green spaces, which are the basis of urban ecology, the formation of a healthy lifestyle, and the creation of safe and comfortable living conditions for residents.
As part of the “Our Yard” project, which has been implemented since 2017, 151 common residential areas have been landscaped and handed over to residents for use.
