A police station in Moscow was attacked by 50-year-old Konstantin Babarkin. He came to the checkpoint of the police department on duty in the Preobrazhensky District and pointed an object that looked like a weapon at the policeman. On October 12, the REN TV channel reported this with reference to a source.
“In his words, he acquired the weapon about 15 years ago. Probably, during the attack, he was drunk, ”said the interlocutor of the journalists.
Babarkin did not have time to fire a pistol and was rendered harmless. His motives are unknown.
The attacker became known earlier on Tuesday. It was noted that a criminal case was initiated against him on the grounds of a crime under Art. 317 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Encroachment on the life of a law enforcement officer”).
Earlier, on September 16, an armed man entered the premises of a police department in the city of Liski and detonated an explosive device. As a result, a member of the platoon of the patrol service received a shrapnel wound to the shin of his right leg.
In addition, the attacker is suspected of killing a woman, her son and grandson. Their bodies with gunshot wounds were found in the house in the village of Volchanskoye, where the suspect lived. A criminal case was opened on the fact of the murder of the family and the blowing up of the door of the police department.
On September 17, the attacker was detained. On October 8, he was charged. He admitted his guilt.
