The Republican People’s Headquarters, on the eve of the republican referendum on the construction of a nuclear power plant, consisting of deputies of the Majilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, experts in the field of nuclear physics and the environment, arrived in the Karaganda region and held meetings with the population, reports a correspondent of ekaraganda.kz.

Members of the people’s headquarters, Majilismen Azat Peruashev, Tansaule Serikov and Bauyrzhan Smagulov met with the public of Temirtau and Bukharzhyrau district during the visit. Deputies of the Karaganda regional maslikhat and public opinion leaders also joined the work of the headquarters. The main objective of this visit is to explain the main directions of the Address of the Head of State and to talk about the purpose of holding the referendum.

In addition, it was very important to convey the relevance and importance of the construction of the NPP, to dispel fears and doubts among the population. After all, modern realities prove that energy independence is one of the most serious issues for Kazakhstan. At present, our country is already experiencing a shortage of electricity and imports it from neighboring countries.

The meeting began in the city polyclinic No. 4, where medical workers gathered to discuss the creation of a new strategically important facility in the country. No one present doubted the need for electricity production. However, after listening to the speech of the republican people’s headquarters, the Temirtau residents did not hesitate to ask questions.

The issue of safety was the most pressing concern for residents. The headquarters representatives explained that 40% of the funds allocated for the project are allocated for its provision during the construction of the nuclear power plant. In addition, the safety of such facilities is arranged in such a way that at any slightest risk, an automatic shutdown occurs.

The next location for dialogue with residents was the Youth House. Entrepreneurs gathered here. They were concerned about the availability of personnel, as well as specialists with all the competencies for the construction of such a large-scale facility. However, as is known, such specialists are available in Kazakhstan. Some of them work abroad, but are ready to return to their homeland and continue their professional activities here.

In addition, the NPP will create at least 2,000 vacant jobs related to the nuclear energy industry. It is also important to note that the Institute of Nuclear Physics and similarly named faculties in other higher educational institutions of the country operate in Kazakhstan, which annually train the necessary specialists.

After visiting the two above-mentioned locations, the people’s headquarters moved on to the Bukharzhyrau district. At that time, representatives of the other two groups were holding similar events in Karaganda, as well as the Nurinsky and Osakarovsky districts.
