LE SCAN SPORT – A new major innovation, the Santiago Bernabeu stadium now has a new retractable lawn, capable of being stowed away to accommodate other sporting or cultural events.
Real Madrid are going to make Santiago Bernabeu even more unique. The Merengue will now play on a retractable lawn. A new technology installed in the enclosure makes it possible to laterally store the lawn in the basement strip by strip. The device does not stop there, once stored, the lawn continues to be pampered and has special lighting via UV lights, and suitable air conditioning as well as regulated watering.
A billion euros of works
The images were shot this Saturday after the match between Real Madrid and Getafe (2-1), Ancelotti’s players found their enclosure 90 days later, due to work. All of these features inevitably come at a price. All of the work, including the change of lawn as well as the entire exterior steel structure and a retractable roof, is valued at nearly one billion euros. This new enclosure will be inaugurated in December.
