The indignation is such, on social networks, that the Regional Health Agency (ARS) of Occitanie reacted, affirming “its support for the emergency department of the Perpignan Hospital Center and all of its teams who carry out remarkable work.”

According to the ARS, “the images filmed on Saturday between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. cannot reflect the usual care in this department (…) An exceptional peak of activity was marked by a large influx of patients with a thirty ambulances welcomed (…), in addition to people who arrived by their own means. This high level of activity has occasionally put the healthcare teams in difficulty, who have reorganized and strengthened themselves to provide care depending on emergency situations. »

The ARS also indicated that between 2019 and 2022, the budgetary allocations it granted to this hospital experienced “a significant increase, both for the financing of SAMU 66 (+ 1 million euros) and for means of intervention [liés aux] emergency services/SMUR 66 (+ 4.6 million euros)”. Furthermore, the State services specify that the envelope allocated to this establishment increased by 5% as part of the reform of the financing of emergency services, and 5.4 million euros were granted in the framework for investments by Ségur de la santé.
