Armenia, which was defeated in the Second Karabakh War, was looking for new weapons suppliers to rebuild its army. The main support for official Yerevan in this matter came from France and India. Recently, Armenia has included the weapons bought from New Delhi and Paris in its military arsenal.

The processes show that Armenia does not want to be satisfied with this, it wants to further expand the process of armament. Therefore, India is currently creating an air corridor to serve Armenia’s strategically important exports.

This was reported by IADN publication, which specializes in news in the field of aerospace defense of India. It is reported that HAL and CONCORD have formed the HALCON Joint Working Group for the same purpose.

Air corridor from India to Armenia can be created only through Iran.

What should be Iran’s position on this matter?

It is known that the relations between Iran and the leading states of the West are always tense. The United States, France, Great Britain and other Western countries have imposed heavy sanctions on Iran. They are conducting a systematic pressure policy against other countries trying to establish trade relations with Tehran.

For this reason, this project should be unacceptable to Iran, primarily because it is France’s signature on the India-Armenia corridor. Because one of the main goals of the corridor is the delivery of Indian weapons produced under French license to Armenia through Iran.

If Iran allows the creation of this corridor, it means that it will itself create conditions for the placement of Western-made weapons on its borders.

This is Tehran’s moment “NATO is located on our borders, we will not allow it” it will create the possibility that the noise is not sincere.

On the other hand, the creation of an India-Armenia air transport corridor is not in the interests of Russia, Iran’s strongest and closest ally. Because today Armenia is trying to get out of Russia’s control. In order to continue this process, Yerevan is getting closer to the West militarily, economically, and politically.

Of course, Russia is dissatisfied with Armenia’s purchase of weapons from other countries and Moscow’s policy to reduce its influence in the country. At a time when such a disaffected atmosphere prevails, Iran’s assistance to Armenia to reduce its dependence on Russia and the provision of French-licensed weapons to enter the country cannot fail to affect Tehran-Moscow relations.

As it can be seen, Iran’s role in the arming of Armenia is contrary to the neighboring policy with Azerbaijan, on the other hand, its relations with the West, as well as its alliance relations with Russia. For this reason, Iran’s attitude towards this corridor should be negative.
