Sidhuvinithiri was average and more than average in dealing with easy spin bowling in his time….. Be it Muttiah Muralitharan or Shane Warne knows that batting heat very well. Vaughan himself once said that apart from Sachin, it was Sidhu who faced his ball beautifully.
Sidhu’s innings that comes to mind first are the 101 runs he scored against Pakistan in the 1996 Sharjah Cup when India crossed the 300-run mark for the first time in a partnership of over 200 runs with Tendulkar, and the 93 runs he scored against Pakistan in the 1996 World Cup quarter-finals.
A complete entertainer who brought value to his team and the game, Sidhu was also a highly aggressive player.. That’s probably why people were led to believe the story of headbutting the umpire..
