The GDP grew in the first quarter of the year by 0.2% compared to the same period of the previous year and 6.3% in annual rate, according to the final data published this Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), which lower in one tenth the advanced rates last April.

Despite the greater weakness of the data, the Ministry of Economy values that during the first quarter of the year the growth of the economy was maintained in a context of uncertainty and in a period marked by the incidence of the Ómicron variant, the beginning of the Russia’s war in the Ukraine and the transport bosses’ strike. The department headed by Nadia Calviño also underlines the strength of employment, with the creation of 934,000 full-time jobs in the last year and the practical recovery of hours worked compared to those before the pandemic (99.5%).
