The Defense forces exercise Aurora 23 will commence on April 17. It is a joint practice of the army, navy, air force, and home guard with international partners. The aim is to increase collective ability to withstand an armed attack in Southern and Northern Sweden with a major focus on Gotland. Aurora 23 is the largest national exercise in more than 25 years, involving around 26,000 participants and 14 nations including the USA, Great Britain, Finland, Poland, Norway, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Denmark, Austria, Germany, and France.

During the exercise, which starts on April 17, the army, navy, air force and home guard are practicing together with international partners with the aim of increasing the collective ability to meet an armed attack in Sweden.

The exercise is carried out in the air, on the ground and at sea in large parts of the country, with a focus on southern Sweden and Gotland and northern Sweden.

Aurora 23 is the largest national exercise of its kind in more than 25 years. A total of 14 nations and around 26,000 women and men participate. Participating nations besides Sweden are the USA, Great Britain, Finland, Poland, Norway, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Denmark, Austria, Germany and France.
