“The Ice Cream Festival was conceived as a family celebration from the very beginning. <...>It is a festival of peace. We should be happy that there is peace here, in the stadium, in Kėdainiai”, said the long-time organizer of the festival.

Participants of the ice cream festival: they are not interested in politics, the most important thing is the concert

The residents and guests of the city gathered at the event did not see the political connections either. Many of them said that they came to Elta just to have a good time with their family and to see a free concert.

“We don’t see any connections here. We came to the concert with our family, we only care about the concert, not politics. We are not interested”, said the resident of Kėdainiai.

The family from Mažeikiai also said that the event has no political significance for them. They are here for the SEL show.

“We are not interested in politics, we came for the music, for the SEL, and we are not really interested in anything else,” Jurijs from Mažeiki told Eltai.

Last week, the news spread that the performer Giordana Butkutė and the group “Biplan” decided not to perform at the Ice Cream Festival. According to the group, this is how they aim to avoid possible associations with a political party participating in the elections in the fall.

It was not of much importance to the guests of the event either, according to Andrias from Kėdainiš, music and politics are two different things that should not be confused.

“I have distanced myself from politics, I am not interested at all. I came to listen to a concert, to be with a crowd of people. Politics and music are incompatible. What difference does it make who sings: Russian, Ukrainian, supports the war or not. Music and politics are two areas that need to be evaluated separately”, Marius from Kaunia shared his thoughts.

According to the festival organizers, those gathered at the festival will be able to listen to the songs of Violeta and Vilias Tarasova, SEL and the Italian singer In-Grid.

ELTA reminds that Jolanta Blažytė, the former wife of politician V. Uspaskich, is currently the main shareholder in the company organizing the celebration, but before that, V. Uspaskich himself was also a former shareholder.

The ice cream party, which is often seen as part of the party’s election campaign, is often accompanied by discussions about illegal political advertising.

The Central Election Commission (CEC), which received a complaint about this event at the end of July, has already conducted a similar investigation into possible political advertising in 2020, when V. Uspaskich invited residents to participate in the celebration on his Facebook account.
