The Inloophuis Midden-Brabant is there for life with and after cancer

by time news

Every day 330 people are told that they have cancer! In addition, more than 800,000 people are living with and after cancer: they were diagnosed in the past twenty years. And while many of them are cured, many are still dealing with the effects of cancer and its treatment. With cancer, therefore, not only survival counts, it is also about quality of life and dealing with the (late) consequences.

The Walk-in House Central Brabant

The Inloophuis Midden-Brabant, center for living with and after cancer, plays an important role when it comes to this quality of life. It is a “living room” for people who have been affected by cancer, recently or some time ago. Here you can come and drink a cup of tea or coffee, share your story, find comfort in peer contact groups or, for example, find relaxation and distraction by participating in one of the creative or relaxing activities on offer.

This autumn, various activities are planned in the Inloophuis Midden-Brabant, such as:

Beauty pampering day on Thursday 29 September from 10 am to 2 pm: If you have just been struck by cancer, it can be nice to be pampered for a day by people who know what you are going through. Take a day out and take a breather. The program includes various relaxation treatments and a delicious lunch. For more information and registration, see the website.

A mindfulness training of 8 weeks will start at the end of September. Feelings of stress, unexpected changes in your life that can be difficult: you can’t prevent them, but you can prevent them from suffering. Mindfulness can help you with this.

October Breast cancer month : pre-announcement evening about anti-hormone therapy in breast cancer, in conversation with experts. Anti-horomone therapy (popularly called hormone therapy), one small pill, with significant consequences for some women when it comes to side effects and quality of life. But if you have side effects? What can you do with that?

Later in the year evenings will be organized on topics such as colon cancer and cancer and intimacy.

At many times during the month there is contact with fellow sufferers, for example for people with:
* Prostate Cancer (in collaboration with the Prostate Cancer Society)
* Breast cancer (in collaboration with the Breast Cancer Association)
* Metastatic breast cancer (in collaboration with the Breast Cancer Society)
* Blood/Lymph node cancer (by Hematon)
* Intermediates, if you are terminally ill
* Afternoons especially for Men with cancer
* Relatives and Partner Evenings: how are you?

You can have various reasons to join fellow sufferers contact. Perhaps you would like to hear how others deal with things you encounter, talk about yourself, meet new people.

Creative and relaxation
Every week there is a choice of various workshops, ranging from yoga on Monday or Thursday, painting, art journaling, drawing or zendala. All creative expressions to get out of your head if you are affected by cancer. As one guest says: “When I start drawing, I forget everything around me. I am then occupied with my pencil on the paper with my full attention”.

Registration is required for all activities. For information, dates and times you can check the website at the activity calendar at www.inloophuis middenbrabant.nl
