The insurance is committed to the continuous training of its employees. 98% of the 54,500 people who work in the sector received some type of training during 2022. Of these, just over 54% were women and the remaining 46% were men. This distribution is in line with the presence of each gender in the squad. This is one of the conclusions of the report Sustainable labor policies in the insurance sector. Data 2022prepared by Estamos Seguros, the initiative to disseminate the insurance culture developed by UNESPA.

A worker received an average of 33 hours of training over the past year. Each entity, again on average, provided or financed 26,484 hours of training. 97.2% of this training was carried out during working hours. And who were the beneficiaries? Employees with business responsibilities made up the bulk of educated people. Another 11.2% were middle managers and the remaining 4.5% were executives.

An analysis of the insurance’s ongoing training actions reveals that the average investment per entity was 380,786 euros. This meant allocating 14.34 euros per hour of training or, what is the same, 487.22 euros per trained employee. The insurers, therefore, dedicated an amount equivalent to 1.02% of the wage bill to training.

Each entity gave an average of 334 courses throughout the past year. The subjects most frequently addressed were support tasks (legal, technical or economic issues), commercial training, technical training on insurance issues and instruction in digital news. Other areas where training actions were carried out, although with a somewhat less frequency, were language teaching and the transmission of the company’s culture and internal policies.

On the other hand, each insurer gave an average of 321 courses to mediators, with a total of 2,476 distributors trained by entity. Likewise, 18.9% of the entities carried out specific training for the members of their boards of directors, with an average of 320 hours and 26 directors trained.
