The interim government is committed to improving the quality of life of the people of Bangladesh, said Muhammad Fawzul Kabir Khan, advisor assigned to the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, Power, Energy and Mineral Resources and Railways.

The adviser said this during a courtesy meeting with a four-member delegation led by Ichiguchi Tomohide Gui, the chief representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) assigned to Bangladesh in the meeting room of the Road Transport and Highways Department at the Secretariat on Thursday (September 5).

During the meeting, the adviser appreciated the friendly relations between Bangladesh and Japan and JICA’s support as a development partner in various projects of Bangladesh. Paying respect to the martyrs of the student movement, the advisor said that the people of Bangladesh want change. They want an end to corruption, injustice and discrimination in the name of so-called development.

The advisor pointed out that the current government is working to fulfill this expectation of the people.

The advisor also said that in order to meet the public expectations, the current government has taken a policy decision to introduce open tender system along with repealing the controversial section 34 (a) of the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission Act (BERC) and not to give any special benefits to anyone in this regard.

At this time, the advisor mentioned JICA’s financial and technical cooperation in various projects of roads, bridges, railways, electricity and energy sectors, including in overcoming the country’s gas crisis, reducing the use of fossil fuels and increasing the use of renewable energy, speeding up the two damaged stations of the metro rail (Kazipara and Mirpur-10). do

Greeting and congratulating the interim government, the chief representative of JICA appointed in Bangladesh said that JICA is always interested in working to improve the quality of life of the people of Bangladesh. In addition to appreciating the steps taken by this government, the chief representative said that he would give all possible support to this government.

Besides, referring to the huge amount of investment in Bangladesh, Ichiguchi Tomohide said that JICA always wants to ensure the quality of work, transparency and environmental protection in its projects. At this time, he sought the cooperation of this government to complete the currently ongoing projects as soon as possible and assured the adviser about investing in new projects.
