The Iranian embassy in Saudi Arabia reopened on June 6, concluding the rapprochement between the two rival powers, after more than seven years of rupture. Middle Eastern heavyweights Iran and Saudi Arabia severed relations in 2016 after protesters attacked Saudi diplomatic missions in the Islamic Republic, following the Gulf monarchy’s execution of an influential Shiite religious leader.
