Basra Governor Asaad Al-Eidani confirmed that the Iraq-Kuwait match achieved the desired goal of sports, which is to spread love and peace between countries, pointing out that the Iraqi audience represented the country well in this event.

Al-Eidani told the (INA) on Wednesday: “The result of the match depends on the technical skills and what the coaches plan, but on the other hand, this match achieved the desired goal, which is to renew the bonds of brotherhood between the Iraqi and Kuwaiti people and erase the effects caused by the dictatorial regime that harmed the two countries,” indicating that “the people of Kuwait are our brothers and they proved that through their welcome of the Iraqi public over three days, whether at the governmental or popular level.”

Al-Eidani added, “The match did not witness any violations and the Iraqi fans received praise from the Kuwaitis. In return, the Kuwaiti authorities facilitated the entry of the Iraqi fans into its territory and we saw Iraqi cars roaming the streets of Kuwait amidst a great welcome from its people.” He stressed that “this occasion will be a good omen for the presence of the Iraqi fans in the upcoming Gulf Cup.”
