/ The Iraqi Football Association decided, on Sunday, to punish Al-Shorta Club technically, administratively and financially and consider its football team a loser by three goals to none against Zakho team, due to violating the regulations of the Iraqi Premier League.

Zakho Club President, Ammar Farhan, told Agency, “The Disciplinary Committee of the Iraqi Football Association considered Al-Shorta Club as having lost to Zakho 0-3 after it had won 2-1 in its match that took place on the eighth of this month at Al-Najaf Stadium.”

He explained that “the punishment was imposed on the police for violating the union’s regulations for the Iraqi Premier League by fielding more professional players than required, and he was fined 15 million dinars, and the team supervisor was suspended for two months.”

Zakho Club had objected to the police team because of the professional players who represented the team, as the Iraqi Premier League regulations stipulate that the registration of foreign professional players should be 4 players under the international classification of national teams from sequence 90 and below, and two players from sequence 91 and above, while the Yemeni player is registered as a citizen player, provided that the number of players does not exceed one player in each club.

The Zakho club management filed a complaint because the police did not implement this condition, and therefore the Zakho management is demanding that the regulations be implemented and that the police be considered a loser 3-0 due to the illegal participation of a number of its players.
