/ The Iraqi national team qualified for the West Asia junior semi-finals after tying with the Oman national team with one goal each in the third round of the first group of the West Asian Federation U-17 Championship.

The match was held at seven o’clock in the evening today, Friday, at Al Sa’ada Stadium in the Salalah Sports Complex in the Sultanate of Oman.

The Iraqi national team scored first through player Zain Al-Abidin Jassim (minute 55), then the equalizing goal came for the Oman national team through friendly fire when Iraqi national team defender Ali Ammar mistakenly sent the ball into his team’s goal in the 66th minute.

The Iraqi youth team was able to win over its Lebanese counterpart, 3-0, in its second match in the tournament, while it failed in its first test in the tournament after losing to its Yemeni counterpart, 2-1.

The Sultanate of Oman will host the West Asian Under-17 Championship during the period from 11 to 20 December, with the participation of 8 teams: Oman, the host, Yemen, Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, and the Emirates.
