/ The Iraqi Basketball Federation announced on Sunday that it had received an invitation from its Bahraini counterpart to play two friendly matches in the capital, Manama, in preparation for the upcoming Asian Championship.

The second vice president of the federation, Khaled Najm, told Agency, “The Iraqi national team will play two friendly matches against the Bahraini national team next month at the invitation of the Bahraini federation,” noting that “the first match will be held on the 18th, while the second match will be held on the 19th of next February in the Bahraini capital.” Manama.

He explained that “the federation has developed its own curriculum to prepare the team before entering the Asian qualifiers scheduled to start on the 23rd of next month in a home-and-away system, which is considered a qualifier for the Asian finals and then the World Cup.”

He stressed, “The Iraqi Basketball Federation decided to stop the Premier League on the 23rd of next February in order to create the appropriate atmosphere to prepare the team before entering the Asian qualifiers next February.”

It is noteworthy that the Iraqi national team will face its Saudi counterpart at the beginning of its journey in the Asian qualifiers on the 23rd of next month in the closed People’s Sports Hall in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, while in its second match it will meet the Palestine national team on the 26th of February also in the Jordanian capital, Amman.
