/ Director of the Iraqi Olympic team, Jabbar Hashem, denied on Monday that striker Hussein Lawandi was called up to the team’s roster for the Asian Football Championship.

Hashem told Agency, “The treating doctor did not give Olympic team striker Hussein Lawndi the green light to return to training, provided that he wears (head protection) for 15 days.”

He explained, “Launde was not included in the U-23 Olympic team squad in the Asian Championship qualifying for the 2023 Paris Olympics due to his lack of readiness.”

Media sources confirmed that the Olympic coach, Samah Radhi Shenaishil, allowed Lawndi to play on the Olympic team with a “head protector” after the doctor treating his condition allowed him to do so.

Hashem expressed his surprise at the media’s circulating this news and called on them to verify their sources before publishing any information.

It is noteworthy that Laundy suffered a head injury in a contact during one of the local matches, as a result of which he remained in the hospital for more than three weeks. any
