/ The Iraqi Olympic team goalkeeper coach, Saleh Hamid, expressed, on Monday, his satisfaction with the ability of the first team’s goalkeepers to protect their nets in the Asian Championship competitions that will start in Qatar on the 12th of this month.

Hamid told Agency, “Our team’s first goalkeeper, Jalal Hassan, has long experience in his position and is capable of providing something good in the tournament due to the capabilities he possesses.”

He added, “The Iraqi national team’s goalkeeper coach could have invited Muhammad Hamid after the stability that put him at the forefront of the goalkeepers in the Iraq Stars League, but here remains the coach’s conviction, which we respect,” explaining that “the matches that Muhammad Hamid played with his team, Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya, gave him the momentum to restore confidence.” I expected him to be invited along with Dohuk goalkeeper Mohamed Saleh, who has proven his high efficiency in the league.”

Hamid said, “Today we have more than one good and distinguished goalkeeper, such as Amjad Rahim, Ali Kazem, and Muhammad Saleh, and this is what makes us reassured about this very important position.”

He pointed out that “the Iraqi goalkeeper’s weaknesses today are his loss of confidence, and the psychological factor is very important in large tournaments such as the Asian Championship, which will witness the participation of the top Asian teams.”

He concluded by saying, “The systematic attack on the local player puts the player under great psychological pressure, and I believe that the most important thing is to keep the player away from the negative atmosphere and the public, which has sometimes become a negative and influential factor in the low level.”
