/ On Monday, the Iraqi Olympic team’s goalkeeper coach, Saleh Hamid, expressed his satisfaction regarding the ability of the first team’s goalkeepers to protect their nets in the Asian Championship competitions that will start in Qatar on the 12th of this month.

Hamid told Agency, “Our national team’s first goalkeeper, Jalal Hassan, has long experience in his position and is capable of presenting something good in the tournament due to his capabilities.”

“The Iraqi national team’s goalkeeper coach could have invited Mohammed Hamid after the stability that placed him at the forefront of goalkeepers in the Iraqi Premier League, but the coach’s conviction remains here, which we respect,” he added, explaining that “the matches that Mohammed Hamid played with his team, Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya, gave him momentum to restore confidence, and I expected to invite him along with Dohuk goalkeeper Mohammed Salih, who has proven to be highly efficient in the league.”

Hamid said, “Today we have more than one good and distinguished goalkeeper, such as Amjad Rahim, Ali Kazim, and Mohammed Saleh, and this is what makes us feel confident about this very important position.”

He pointed out that “the weaknesses of the Iraqi goalkeeper today are his lack of confidence, and the psychological factor is very important in major tournaments such as the Asian Championship, which will witness the participation of the top Asian teams.”

He concluded by saying, “The systematic attack on the local player puts the player under great psychological pressure, and I think that the most important thing is to keep the player away from the negative atmosphere and the fans, who have sometimes become a negative factor and influence in the decline of the level.”
