/ The Iraqi Olympic team coach, Radhi Shenaishil, confirmed on Saturday that the Olympic team will head to Dubai, UAE, on the 12th of this month, to enter a training camp in preparation for the Asian Championship in Qatar, which is considered a qualifier for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Shenaishil told Agency, “The Iraqi Olympic team will enter a training camp in the Emirati city of Dubai, and during the camp it will play three friendly matches in preparation for the Asian Championship, whose competitions begin in April of this year in Qatar.”

He added, “The Iraqi team will meet the teams of Egypt, Ghana, and the Emirates, in preparation for the AFC U-23 Championship,” noting that “matches with strong teams will be important at this time, especially since all the players are gathering at this time after the international break.”

Shenaishil called on the players to “benefit from the matches that the team will play, which will be at a high level,” explaining that “thinking about the results comes second because they are friendly matches, and the goal is to benefit technically and identify the gaps that occur in the team’s ranks.”

The draw for the Asian U-23 Cup placed the Iraqi Olympic team in the third group, alongside Saudi Arabia, Thailand and Tajikistan.
