Acclaimed entertainment company A24 has given audiences a sneak peek at the highly anticipated sports biopic “The Iron Claw” with the release of its official trailer. Starring Zac Efron and Jeremy Allen White as wrestling brothers in the renowned Von Erich family, the film chronicles the real-life rise of the wrestling dynasty during the 1980s.

In the gripping trailer, Efron and White showcase their chiseled physiques as they prepare to step into the ring in their roles as Kevin and Kerry Von Erich. As the oldest and middle brothers respectively, they carry the weight of their father’s wrestling legacy on their shoulders. The voiceover in the trailer declares, “We’re here to restore justice to the Wrestling Federation that our father built with his own two hands… The hands that were passed down to us. The hands that will deliver the Iron Claw to you.”

“The Iron Claw” is written and directed by Sean Durkin, known for his work on “The Nest.” This sports biopic will provide an authentic portrayal of the Von Erich brothers and their journey to superstardom within the competitive world of professional wrestling. Their ascent to fame, however, comes with a dark cloud looming over their family. Plagued by a curse, the Von Erichs face tragic events that cast a shadow on their success, making Kevin (Efron) the sole surviving member of his generation.

Zac Efron, renowned for his role in Disney’s “High School Musical,” continues to impress with his dramatic performances. Following his Vietnam War film “The Greatest Beer Run Ever,” Efron showcases his versatility in “The Iron Claw.” Jeremy Allen White, known for his portrayal in Showtime’s “Shameless” and FX/Hulu’s “The Bear,” adds depth to the complex character of Kerry Von Erich.

Joining Efron and White in the cast are Harris Dickinson (“Where the Crawdads Sing”) and Stanley Simons, who portray two of the other three Von Erich brothers. Holt McCallany, known for his role in “Mindhunter,” tackles the role of the brothers’ domineering father, Jack Adkisson Sr., aka Fritz Von Erich. Emmy nominee Maura Tierney (“Liar Liar”) plays matriarch Doris Von Erich, while Lily James (“Pam & Tommy”) stars as Kevin’s wife, Pam Adkisson.

The trailer concludes with the resounding proclamation from their father that “The Von Erichs will forever be the greatest family in the history of wrestling.”

Audiences can mark their calendars as “The Iron Claw” is set to hit theaters nationwide on December 22. The film is financed and produced by A24, with additional support from Access Entertainment and BBC Film.
