Time.news – Two years of stop for Covid and now we start again. The sixth edition of the Irpinia Mood Food Festival returns from 1 to 4 September, attracting chefs, producers, the kitchen of memory, moments of discussion and reflection accompanied by music to the center of Avellino. Speaking of which, there will also be chef Joe Bastianich in a strictly musical version, between jazz and country blues, who will perform with the Neapolitan folk band “The third class”. On August 28th there will be a preview event – Pummarole – is instead dedicated to the art of making tomato sauce. An open experiential laboratory (also available for children, at 10 am), full of popular and family culture.

Irpinia, however, is also that of Fiano di Avellino, Greco di Tufo and Taurasi, three of the main wine-producing DOCGs, products of a land that has a lot to say about itself also by virtue of its gastronomic riches. Agricultural and handicraft productions included, that in Campania they represent a sort of totem of culinary “good memory”as can be produced such as soprassata, aprilatico broccoli, chestnuts, black truffles or Carmasciano cheeses, which have also conquered the menus of great restaurants and renowned pizzerias.

The leitmotif of this sixth edition of the Imff is “Denomination of Origin”, dedicated to those who leave and return, to those who remain, to the roots, to the return to origins and traditions. The program is rich, and was built by the Irpinia chef Mirko Balzano, artistic director of the festival. It will have different articulations: cooking, music, discussion.

Every evening, 7 chefs will prepare 7 “forgotten” recipes, dishes of the Irpinia memory now almost disappeared, all made with quality local raw materials. Among the names involved, cooks and cooks who have given prestige to the region for some time, such as Marianna Vitale, Gioi Della Bruna, Antonio Pisaniello, Cristian Torsiello, Giovanni Mariconda, Pasquale Torrente, but also professionals arriving from “outside”, such as Antonello Magistà, patron and sommelier of the Pashà di Conversano.

the Irpinia Mood Food Festival was born starting from the year 2015, and the first five editions for five have led to Corso Vittorio Emanuele, the good and main living room of the Irpinia capital, Avellino, quality culinary proposals with “street” recipes, wines, artisans, artistic performances and, above all, a dense audience: 45 thousand presences counted only in 2019, the last edition before the stop for the pandemic.
