Questioned on the airwaves of Sud Radio on November 17, 2021, the Minister of the Economy, Bruno Le Maire, has no hesitation. “I am very vigilant about the price increase, I discuss it regularly with the other European finance ministers, with the president of the European Central Bank (ECB), Christine Lagarde. Our assessment is that this inflation is temporary,” he said.

Nobody then suspects the irresistible progression of inflation which awaits France, like the other countries, in 2022. Less than 3%, over one year, last January, the rise in consumer prices will take off for up to 6.2% in November, fueled by the war waged in Ukraine by Russia from 24 February. Levels not recorded since the oil shocks of 1974 and 1979.
